Certificate in Seminary Formation for Missionary Discipleship

This certificate in seminary formation for missionary discipleship is designed to fulfill a need to train those who serve in the external forum in seminary formation. It is also very helpful for all those who do formation, including vocation directors. It has been designed and is being sponsored by the Seminary Formation Council.

“It is necessary that those chosen for accompaniment in the Seminaries, that they first, are actively engaged in the permanent formation of the clergy. That is, educators must be the first receivers of a journey of self-formation that helps them grow in priestly spirit and offers them human and spiritual tools for the task to be carried out.”

Cardinals Stella and De Aviz

Letter to Bishops and Religious Superiors, dated April 13, 2016 signed by Cardinal Beniamino Stella, Former Prefect of the Congregation for the Clergy, and Cardinal João Braz de Aziz, Prefect of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life

Who: This certificate is designed to fulfill a need to offer a comprehensive training program for those serving in diocesan seminary formation: formation advisors, teaching faculty, administrative faculty, parish pastoral supervisors, spiritual directors and vocation directors.

What: The design and content reflect major themes in the new Ratio Fundamentalis, as presented by Archbishop Jorge Patrón Wong at recent gatherings of the National Conference of Diocesan Vocation Directors (N.C.D.V.D.) and the National Association of College Seminaries (N.A.C.S.).
